Students participate in STMA

Turfgrass Science Students are participating in the Sports Turf Managers Association conference in Phoenix, AZ, January 22-25. This sort of participation is one of the many extra-curricular learning /networking opportunities available to the students. End of Semester Management Plans presented

Turfgrass Science students in the SCSC 429 Turfgrass Management Systems class presented their end of semester Management Plans as the semester came to a close. Dr. Ben Wherley praised all the teams for a job well done.

November 6th Turfgrass Club meeting

Brett Martin and Ryan Earp discussed their summer internships during the most recent Turfgrass Club meeting. Ryan Earp spent the summer working at the Preserve Course at Reynolds Lake Oconce in Greensboro, Georgia. This recently renovated golf course was designed by Bob Cupp, Fuzzy Zoeller and Hubert Green. Brett Martin was in Boston, MA, this summer helping to maintain Fenway Park for the 2018 Champion Boston Red Sox. Students assist with AGLS Tailgate

Turfgrass Club members Shelby Ferguson and Calvin Wilson helped represent the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences tailgate on October 6 before the Aggie football game against Kentucky. Club members take advantage of numerous volunteer activities throughout the year.

Students discuss internships at October 23 meeting

Summer internships provide hands-on skills that reinforce information students learn in the classroom. Turfgrass Science students have a wide array of experiences from which to select. This summer James Kimberley chose to work with Landscapes Unlimited LLC, a company which constructs and operates golf courses and sports fields across the United States. The company has built or renovated more than 1,800 golf courses and currently operates/manages more than 60.
