The Aggie Turf Club held a putt-putt fundraiser October 30 and 31 at the Scotts MiracleGro Facility on F&B Road in College Station. The contest raised funds for student travel to the upcoming Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and the Sports Turf Managers Association conferences. The 2021-22 Aggie Turfgrass Club kicked off the fall semester on September 21, with an 18-hole putting competition on the newly created putting course at the Scotts turfgrass lab in College Station. The course was designed and constructed by the students in the SCSC 427-Sports Field Construction course, using Lazer zoysiagrass. At this past week’s Aggie Turf Club, Turfgrass Science students Nick Patschke and Garrison Moczygemba presented on their summer internships with Helena Ag over the past summer. This internship gave the students exposure to the sales, distribution, and research side of the industry.
The Texas A&M Turfgrass Club held their 6th annual Aggie TurfCup last week in College Station. Congratulations to James Kimberly and Nick Patschke – the winning team! The TurfCup, held near the end of the spring semester, is a fun activity to wrap up another academic year. Good luck to the Turfgrass Science students as they head out for jobs and internships!
Students in the Texas A&M Turfgrass Science program traveled to San Diego to participate in the Golf Industry Show in early February. They set up a booth to advertise the program and participated in the John Deere Turf Bowl.
