Aggie Putt-Putt fundraiser

The Aggie Turf Club held a putt-putt fundraiser October 30 and 31 at the Scotts MiracleGro Facility on F&B Road in College Station. The contest raised funds for student travel to the upcoming Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and the Sports Turf Managers Association conferences. Interns at Boot Ranch

Two turfgrass science students spent the summer in Fredericksburg working at Boot Ranch Golf Club as part of their degree program at Texas A&M. Their internship helped them learn more about the turfgrass industry.

Turfgrass students volunteer for Big Event 2019

Several members of the Texas A&M University Turfgrass Club came out March 30th for The Big Event, the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation, joining tens of thousands of other Aggie students saying “Thank You” to the residents of Bryan and College Station. The Turfgrass students and Dr. Ben Wherley, the club’s advisor, joined forces with Elder Aid, a local organization that helps build and renovate houses and apartments for low income elderly in the community. They spent the day painting, tiling and doing landscape work.

Students volunteer at golf events

This week Chandler Simental has been volunteering with the greens staff at the PGA WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event at the Austin Country Club. Chandler is a senior studying Turfgrass Science here at A&M. This match play event if just one of the many volunteering and internship opportunities available to the students. Great job, Chandler!

TAMU represented at 2019 Golf Industry Show

Students in the Texas A&M Turfgrass Science program traveled to San Diego to participate in the Golf Industry Show in early February. They set up a booth to advertise the program and participated in the John Deere Turf Bowl.
